As a Pleasanton photographer, I’m always on the lookout for locations that photograph beautifully while also being easy and fun for families. This spring, I hosted my first round of family mini sessions at Moller Park in Pleasanton, and I walked away wondering why I hadn’t photographed families here sooner.
In a quiet Pleasanton neighborhood, Moller Park has quickly become one of my favorite locations for family photos. The park features a large grassy lawn, mature trees, winding walking paths, and a charming bridge that adds variety to your gallery without requiring much walking. There is also a newer playground near the entrance, which is always a bonus when you’re photographing young kids.
One of the things I loved most about Moller Park was how family-friendly it felt. There was plenty of room for little ones to run, explore, and play without feeling crowded. The park is well maintained, parking is easy, and because it’s tucked away in a neighborhood, it feels much quieter than many of the other East Bay parks I photograph.

One of the biggest surprises was the light. Moller Park gets beautiful afternoon light, especially in the spring when everything is green and lush. Because the sun drops behind the Pleasanton hills a little earlier, the park offers soft, golden light without needing to wait until late evening.
For families with young children, and earlier bedtimes, that’s a win!
The open grassy areas give kids space to move while the surrounding trees create beautiful texture and depth in photos. Whether we’re playing games, snuggling babies, or letting toddlers lead the adventure, there are so many spots throughout the park that work beautifully for portraits.

If you’re looking for a location that is:
Then Moller Park is absolutely worth considering.
As a Pleasanton family photographer, I’m always excited to help families choose a location that fits their personalities and stage of life. Moller Park offers the perfect balance of beautiful scenery and space for kids to simply be kids.

These days, I’m also figuring out life as a new mom — balancing baby snuggles with camera gear and reminding myself to slow down and soak it all in. I’ve built a career out of noticing the details, chasing the light, and turning everyday moments into art.
