Intimate Redwood Elopement: Alyssa and Glen’s Dream Day in Joaquin Miller Park

Love Stories

Finding Love Among the Redwoods

Picture this: towering California redwoods, the kind of majestic trees that make you whisper with their presence. That’s where I found myself in the heart of Joaquin Miller Redwood Park in Oakland, ready to capture a love story that was about to unfold.

Alyssa and Glen chose this serene spot to elope. They had travelled all the way to California, drawn by the redwoods. It was a simple affair: just the two of them, their profound love, and, of course, the trees as witnesses to their commitment.

An Elopement That Speaks to the Soul

There’s something profoundly romantic about eloping. It’s as if the couple is whispering to the world, “This is our moment, and it’s just for us.” Alyssa and Glen embodied that sentiment perfectly. As they exchanged vows, their words seemed to dance with the gentle sway of the redwoods. The forest floor, dappled with sunlight, set a scene so beautiful it felt like a piece of a fairytale.

The beauty of an elopement in Joaquin Miller Redwood Park is the intimate connection not only to each other but also to nature. Alyssa and Glen looked into each other’s eyes and promised a lifetime amidst the quiet grandeur of the redwoods. The park, usually echoing with the laughter of hikers and the whispers of nature, stood still for their ceremony. It was intimate, it was lovely, and it was perfectly theirs.

This elopement was a testament to the fact that sometimes love doesn’t need an audience. It just needs the right person, the right moment, and the perfect setting. And for Alyssa and Glen, the tranquil woods of Joaquin Miller Park were just that.

If you’re planning to elope, let’s talk. Whether it’s among the grand redwoods, on a beach, or somewhere that’s uniquely meaningful to you, your love story deserves to be told in a way that feels true to you and I’d love to photograph it for you.

Wedding days end, newborns become toddlers, and parents become grandparents. These moments go by so fast. You deserve to live fully in them,  to be present, and then relive them through imagery that tells your story. Photography is more than just a picture, it’s a way to document your history. These are the good old days. Let me help you remember them.

"I love the people I photograph. I mean, they're my friends. I've never met most of them or I don't know them at all, yet through my images I live with them."

Let's Connect

Photographer, dog mom, book hoarder, and Trader Joe’s loyalist. I’m a Pisces, an ENFJ, and an Enneagram 3, which basically means I feel everything, care deeply, and always have a running to-do list (with color coding).

These days, I’m also figuring out life as a new mom — balancing baby snuggles with camera gear and reminding myself to slow down and soak it all in. I’ve built a career out of noticing the details, chasing the light, and turning everyday moments into art.

Wanna know more about the girl behind the photos (and the caffeine habit)?

Then let's connect!

I'm Shannon.
